Is surfing Safe?

Absolutely! We use Soft-tops surfboards, and they user friendly and are generally safer because of their soft deck and soft fins. In addition, our experienced instructors cover everything you’ll need to know during the beach lesson to ensure your safety when you are out in the water. We also keep our semi-private lessons to a safe student to instructor ratio to ensure that all your needs are met for learning to surf.

What if the weather & ocean conditions don’t seem safe to surf?

At the SeaSide Ryde, your safety and enjoyment are our main priorities. Our coastal weather conditions change from day to day but are generally safe. That being said, we also can’t predict the weather, so our philosophy for adverse conditions is: “If in doubt, we don’t go out.”

What should I expect?

Our lessons are designed for any students’ skill level, from beginners to advanced. Our surf lessons begin outside of the water. Our Instructors will go over basic moves and techniques on the beach to set you up for success out in the water. We teach

How old do I have to be, and does my lesson include equipment?

We suggest that no student is under the age of 7 years old. Every lesson given provides all the necessary equipment you’ll need.

When should I schedule my lesson?

To ensure that we can accommodate your lesson and not have to re-schedule due to unavailability, we encourage you to book as far in advance as you can.

What should I bring?

  • For our surf lessons we suggest that you bring:
  • Towel.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Appropriate swimwear.
  • A rash guard or other swim shirt (optional).
  • Clothes for before and after.

Everything else, we got you covered!
